What do you do in Shanghai during the Chinese New Year if you are an ex-pat and no contacts with the local population other than your colleagues at work and work closes down for a week? You go out boozing with those who are left in a similiar situation. Wrong. You fly down to New Zealand for a week to do some fishing!

Christchurch. Met up with friends from Sweden who were on a four week fishing trip. Stayed with New Zealand friends in Christchurch.

Drove down to Omarama in a rental car in order to fish in the Ahiriri River and to carry carry out some surveillance of the area prior to my friend organising a fishing trip to NZ for a group of people.

Continued with the surveillance work and hired the services of a guide. Very friendly and knowledgeable guy. Decided to test the effects of river water on my mobile phone and camera by falling in the Ahiriri River

Fished in the area again.

Picked up in Omarama by my NZ friends who were taking some friends from USA on a sightseeing trip of the South Island and brought back to Christchurch.
